Dear Mr. Powell, Thank you for meeting me this morning. Additionally thank you for assisting me in addressing the contractors incorrect sloping of the sidewalk Infront of Mr. Avelar and our adjacent building. A metal frame with a pile of dirt next to a building Description automatically generated Photos documenting the incorrect slope of the expansion break and sidewalk. As depicted, the materials are already nailed in this position, ready for concrete pouring. A concrete sidewalk with a box on it Description automatically generated with medium confidence Following the contractor's corrections per your request, they proceeded with pouring the concrete in the area. During the pouring, two issues arose. 1. Our electrical service ground wire was inadvertently left submerged in the concrete. 2. An unintentional void was being left behind and around our electrical service pipe, under the box, going down into the ground. I lifted our electrical wire from the concrete so the workers could continue to finish the concrete without its interference and tried to point out the void being left around and behind our pipe to the person finishing the area. At this point, Sloan construction told me to leave his workers to their job. I complied and requested that he please make sure they get cement back in and around the electrical pole so that we don’t have a void. Carl told me to let his people do their work, I explained my concern about the void that they were not aware of and I’m asking him to please take care of it. Carl told me to shut up, leave him alone and get off his job site. Carl became extremely aggressive, got in my face and told me to get off his jobsite now. He then stated he was going to call the cops and have me arrested? I again expressed my concerns about the void behind the electrical box that he was ignoring, at which point Carl stated, “I don’t give a F*** what you think.” I explained, it’s not what I think it’s what is. Carl then stated not to worry about it, that they would take care of it, at which point I said thank you and departed across the street. Carl followed up with “Get off my job site.” A group of people standing near orange and white barrels Description automatically generated Carl then called the police, the two officers that arrived were Sergeant Tim Sipes #2277 and Officer Furguson #2236. As we have discussed, I’m doing my best to mitigate any additional damages to our building. Carl becoming aggressive and calling the police, regarding the actual events that transpired, appears to echo the same unprofessional tactics used during the removal of the walk boards from the front of 304 N. Washington Avenue during a heavy rainstorm and the incident reported by Raigan Davis on April 16, 2024. If you have received any different version of these events, I kindly request that you forward them to me so that I may address any discrepancies and pursue appropriate action regarding any false information or false allegations. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Respectfully, Larry Watts (903) 930-2071
